LAKI
Dear Bainbridge Animal Shelter:
I drove up there one rainy day last June and ended up adopting a sweet puppy about 4 months old named Laki. I was told her name was Russian for "lucky." Her story was that she was found, along with her sibings, in the woods nearly starving. In fact, they said she couldn't hold her head up because she was so weak. I heard a story that a shelter employee staying up for a few nights feeding her with a dropper hoping she would pull through, and she did.
When I got to the shelter she was in a kennel cage separate from her siblings, because she was the runt of the litter they apparently had been keeping her from whatever food they were able to forgage when they were abandoned in the woods. The staff there had given her so much love and care that when I took her our of her cage, she literally hugged me with her paws! She still does that, by the way, and gets lots of hugs and kisses from me and my husband each day.
Attached are pictures of our beautiful dog, full grown. She's healthy, happy and loved by everyone who meets her. And I always tell the story of the wonderful folks at the Bainbridge Animal Shelter who saved her life. She's smart, loves to swim and play, and we truly love her. We just wanted you all to see how beautiful she's become and that she has a really good home. And, to thank you all for the work you do and the wonderful care you give all those animals who need help. So, whoever gets this email and these pictures, please pass them on to the folks who cared for our dog when she was a puppy. It paid off!
Lots of Love from Tallahassee!
Denise and "Laki"
