When I was younger, I dreamed of getting a Golden Retriever...but I was going to have to wait; my dad didn't want any dogs....but when I was 17 he let me have my favorite rescue dog, Freda, a Heinz 57 mix between German Shepherd/Doberman/Rottweiler. She had issues of being dog aggressive and ended up biting my friend. I then was moved to Florida, where I began my search for a dog...not really looking for a Golden; but I ended up seeing one at my local shelter..but when I called about her she had been adopted! I then began searching for a Golden Retriever and saw one on Petfinder named Kasey...she was skinny and looked so sad. I contacted the shelter about her...and went to meet her that Saturday at Petco in Tallahassee,FL. I loved her when I saw her...she wasn't really interested in us though; she wanted to play with the other dogs...but I knew if I passed up this Golden, who knows when I would find anther...and I liked Kasey so I decided to adopt her...she has been a joy from the moment she came home! She just fit into our rountines and is really close to family and everything. Kasey had a small lump on her lymph node when I adopted her; and when I took her to the vet they said it was a lymph node infection; and the lump got bigger..until nearly two months later and two treatments with antibiotics and prednisone; Kasey's neck had swollen up so bad it looked as if she had a goider. She looked miserable. She still didn't loose her sweet personality and still tried to talk to us when we came home. Her vet appt. was only one night away; but I was afraid she wouldn't be able to breathe so I gave her a tiny peice of prednisone to take down the swelling. We were taking her to a new vet to get a second opinion on the lump that had now engulfed her neck; since the vet in town didn't seem to have a clue. The next morning Kasey went to the vet. They said the lump was a abcess and it needed surgery right away or it could burst over the weekend and then I would lose my baby. I had only had her two months!!!! No way!! So, we decided to take her into surgery right away; and then they also found she had a ear infection with 3 different types of infections...2 types of bacteria and then a yeast infection!!! What still amazed us is that she never wavered in her loving personality and always was just happy go lucky; even though she was deathly sick! She is now recovered and is still recovering from the ear infection; but she is a total trooper and puts up with everything I have to do to her!! She is a wonderful dog, and absolutley amazing. This is one of my favorite stories becuase it shows what a brave dog she is! She is brave!! Kasey, the Wonder Dog!!!

P.s. After surgery for the abcess, and after being boarded at the vets office for three days, we got to pick Kasey up...she was soooo excited to see us that she went against her own policy of never getting on the furniture and jumped in the chair in the vets office just to greet my uncle!!!!

Thank you for reading this long story about a dog named Kasey, who was brave and loving and unwaivering in personality and love, even though she was deathly sick...she was worth the money for the surgery and is the most perfect dog for our family!!! And WE LOVE HER TO DEATH!! I am glad that I didn't pass up that little skinny dog named Kasey on January 7th at the Petco in Tallahassee.....if I had; I would have missed the best dog in Florida!!!!!!
